MARYVILLE – Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville was awarded a $50,000 Broadband READY grant, and State Senator Rachelle Aud Crowe (D-Glen Carbon) welcomes the state investment in broadband expansion opportunities in the Metro East.
“SIUE leads the Metro East region in broadband expansion opportunities,” Crowe said. “The Broadband READY grant will bring regions lacking in broadband support the resources to expand connection and help provide affordable, high-quality internet in every home.”
Funded through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the Regional Engagement for Adoption + Digital Equity, or READY, program will support five regional entities with efforts to plan, research, and collect data as they work to eliminate the digital divide.
Other awardees include Bloomington-Normal EDC, Chicago State University, Northern Illinois University and Western Illinois University.
